Liberia Airport Transfer Guide (2026) - All Options & Tips
Liberia Airport Transfer Guide: Helpful tips for navigating from the airport, including common scams to avoid and how to check current prices.
We have not yet verified how travellers currently reach Liberia from the airport serving it, so we are not publishing routes, operators or fares we cannot stand behind. For what is running on the day you travel, the arrivals information published by your arrival airport is the reliable source, and your accommodation will usually know what works best for the hour you land.
Helpful Tips
Download the Uber or DiDi app before arrival for reliable rides in Monrovia.
Shared taxis (yellow cars) run fixed routes between Sinkor and downtown.
Roberts International Airport taxis charge a flat rate to Sinkor. Haggle before you climb in. Agree on the fare first. No surprises later.
Use cash only - local transport rarely accepts cards even in the capital.
Common Scams to Avoid
Unofficial porters at Roberts International Airport (RIA) may grab bags without asking and then demand inflated tips. Keep a firm grip on your luggage and politely decline assistance unless you need it.
Taxi touts inside the arrivals hall quote fares several times the going rate and sometimes claim the official taxi stand is closed. Walk past them to the clearly marked taxi queue outside where drivers use the standard meter or fixed zone fare.
Currency-exchange booths just past customs advertise "no commission" yet give rates far below the market. Compare the offered rate to the official central-bank figure on your phone and use the airport ATM or exchange only what you need until you reach a city-center bank.
